May Day

Today is May Day and the Celtic festival of Beltane:  a time to celebrate and honor fertility, planting and fairy magic.  This orchid knows how to convey all of these energies.  She invites us to be unrestrained in a way that is ultimately in balance.

It is said if you wash you face at dawn on Beltane in the dew of fresh grass, you will have beauty all year long.  The raindrops glistening on this Ironwood Tree on my hill also make for a tempting and detoxifying facial treatment.  Whatever delights you may seek out this Beltane, may they enrich you body and soul, as well as honoring Mother Earth.

May, 2011 will continue to bring much change.  The energy of May Day blends with the energy of “mayday” in the southern US and in other places around the globe.  We are a little like college kids awakening after an out-of-control frat party to find there are unwanted consequences for our actions.   Whether you wash in the dewdrops today, roll in spring grass or make love in the woods (another Beltane favorite), let the wisdom in your own heart lead you to whatever it is that actually brings loving harmony to you and the Earth.
